<p>I have two clinics that I am trying to get up and running together with avimark. Were way over budget so running term server is out of the question for the moment. I was going to try setting up a <a onclick="submit_bot('suggest', 'vpn', 196, 3, 1, 0, 'vpn');" name="sg_1" href="javascript:void(0);">vpn</a> at our main clinic to see if I can connect from the remote location that way. Has anyone tried this? Is it a viable solution? I'm worried I'm wasting my time because this software runs slow even on the local network... </p>

Just use Remote Admin (www.radmin.com) for remote access. Way easier than VPN, but I think that would work too.

How much was your budget...? We have eight workstations (about the cheapest Dell were selling at the time) and one of their least expensive servers - all running XP. For all AVImark's many many faults, expensive hardware requirements aren't one of them. If it's being really slow then either you have dinosaur equipment, or something is wrong with your set-up.

You may want to look at setting up a server in the remote office and syncing the data between sites. This will reduce the latency and ensure uptime if the link or VPN connection is severed. If thats not a possibility then setup some cheap XP boxes at the main office for the remote users to RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) into.
