<p>I would like to see AVImark take a look at optimizing it's software for wireless network performance.</p>
<p>Currently it's very slow over wireless and I am sure many hospitals would like to go to a tablet PC option for Dr.'s and techs to use mobile and in treatment rooms.</p>
<p>Thanks.</p> |

<p>This would require a major re-write but one way would be for a majority of the program to run on the client side vs how avimark runs now where a majority of the program & data is being pulled off of the server and make the program truely a client/server application.</p> |

Hi,
I spoke with Charles about this, and he pointed me to the following website which details what we use for this kind of development.

AVImark uses the SuperTCP channel. |

try running avimark as a remote desktop application on the wireless devices. when you do this you only transmit "screenshots" of avimark working on the server over the wireless network. a lot less data moving wirelessly and a lot less for the laptop/ tablet to process thus it should allow things move quicker. |

I run all day every day on an ipad2.. I have for several months now. A netbook laptop sits on my desk running avimark with realvnc server running. (its a free program) The vnc app for the ipad controls the laptop, and totally avoids the speed/ dropout problems associated with normal avimark and wireless. I used to run my clinic on a microsoft access database, and it didn't like the wireless dropouts much either fwiw. You could probably do the same thing with other ipad apps that can run a terminal session directly on the server if you were to use terminal services. |

I love Avimark, but the times are a chaning. Maybe a major re-write is in order.
With Windows 8 around the corner, better wireless function would be great. Even better would be a version that could function 'cleanly' (take that how ever you like) on iOS and/or Android. |

Agreed... AVImark has become #1 but is failing to keep up with the way I.T. is changing. (Resting on their laurels). |

I looked for some laurels around the office, and I couldn't find any.
Joking aside, we are committed to bringing the best product to market. With the growing popularity of tablets, specifically iOS and Android with Windows 8 having good potential, we are exploring options to keep all of the inherent functionality within the program, satisfy the platform independency that today and tomorrow's practices need, and continue putting out great product enhancements.
In the short-term, remote connection applications are being used by several clinics with whatever device they prefer with good results, but we need to fully test some of these common devices in order to make solid recommendations. Dr. Weigandt, who posted above, has real-time experiences with the devices in his practice. |
