Can somebody explain to me, how the pharmacy tab in Inventory works? We are in the process of trying to depend more on Avimark for keeping track of our inventory/ ordering, etc.
I tried updating the quantity of a controlled substance in the main window, but then I noticed the pharmacy tab, which has a spot for container number and quantity in container.
I then tried using the inventory used window in medical history.
It appears to take the quantity out of the on hand amount, but doesn't change in the pharmacy tab.
Am I missing something here?

In my ideal world, I'd like to be able to keep track of which bottle we are on, and have it automatically open the new container once a container is exhausted.

Terina,

Put a ( Action Code on the item, and then it should start deducting from the container amount. Also, when it opens a new container, it will open the container with the quantity of what your Order Pack is set to on the Purchasing tab, so please make sure the Order Pack number is correct as well.

Thanks, Jeremy.
I went through and made sure to add that action code, and I just tried to use my inventory used window on a castration code. It didn't ask to update amount, nor did it change the amount in inventory(on hand or container amount)

I used it earlier to test it out, and it worked just fine. I thought I was going crazy.

After I read your post in another thread about inventory, I went and checked the Allocated quantity.

Is my understanding correct that if the invoice is unposted, it places the items in Allocated Quantity until the invoice is posted? And if we go in to update an already posted medical history, then it asks to update the quantity?

Sorry for my confusion. This is all new to me.

Terina,

Yes, if the item is unposted and you change the amount, it should update the allocated quantity. If the item is already posted and you change the amount, it does prompt to update the inventory on-hand of the item.

Just an update:

We checked today, after all of our surgery patients went home. The general quantity on hand seemed to change, but the allocated quantity and container amount never changed.

Any ideas?

I am due to run the latest update anyways (for some reason, medication reminders are not updating when we use the refill option now). Do you think that will help solve this problem?

Have you heard of any other clinics having similar issues?

Thanks again.

Terina,

One thing I forgot to mention was that the Container field is something used only in conjunction with Controlled Substances that are labeled with the C Action Code. In regards to the Allocated Qty amounts, if you look at the Unposted Transaction Report in Work With, Reports, are there any of that item showing up or any treatments that may have that item linked to it? Otherwise, the allocated should be reporting correctly, and it may be time to update and then see if it modifies the behavior.
