Curious if this is possible?
We are in the process of buying an already established hospital that also uses AviMark. What we would like to do is be able to split and share appointments between the two facilities. Is there any way to have the two computer systems link together so we can use 1 appointment book and access the same clientele database? |

Jess,
Sharing clients and appointments are possible with the Site feature of AVImark. Our Conversion Department can merge the two AVImark databases together. For a good overview of how Site works, you can view the pdf on it here: http://www.avimark.net/images/stories/documents/Recently%20updated/AVImark%20Site.pdf and call 1-877-838-9273 option 1. |

Do you happen to know if this would have any effect on our server? Our current server is currently maxed out |

How do you know it's maxed out?
You need to look for another clinic that has the same arrangement as what you want, find out how well it's working for them, and if they're happy then hire the exact same network guy to make it work for you.
Note that the document Jeremy referenced describes an arrangement where "Each location shares the same database of clients, while keeping their own unique treatment, inventory list, appointments, and reporting." Do you also want a unique treatment etc. list??
I would have thought a VPN arrangement would be the easiest solution to this problem. Anyone have any thoughts? |

Our server currently can only allow 10 networked computers. And we have exactly 10. We also have currently received a bid from Avimark itself to allow someone from the company to do all the networking as well as bring in all new computers and a larger server. So HOPEFULLY this will work out. I think we also will only be sharing the schedule and clientele base. Not 100% sure tho |

Ok, so first of all that 10 computer limit is a software thing (Microsoft). You may not need a new server (just a new operating system), so be sure to check that out. Having someone from AVImark do this is probably the best way forward. However watch out for their extortionately priced backup system (we use an external hard drive and Jungledisk which is great and so much cheaper!). For the client computers, just get the cheapest desktops Dell make (this is what we did, and they're fine).
Are they going to use a VPN set up do you know?
Anyway good luck, really interesting project!! Let us know how it goes. |
