I support a client who has three offices. Two are setup to use remote desktop to access Avimark. The "home" office uses unc paths, \\server\avimark...etc to run the program.

Consistently and randomly we are experienceing lockups of Avimark where no one can get into Avimark via a remote session or locally at the home office.

We have updated, reindexed, total network rebuild. Uninstalled anything and everything not necessary to be running on the server and the problems continue.

We used the Avimark Guardian service as directed by tech support, then shut it off as directed by tech support. Database has been re-indexed.

Is anyone out there doing multiple sites to one server willing to compare notes on configurations, etc???

How are you doing the 'remote access'? VPN or something like Remote Admin?

Hmmm...I've not had experience of your setup. However AVImark absolutely has to have a reliable connection with the server. I run AVImark on my laptop wirelessly and it crashes occasionally, even though web browsing etc. is fine. I think momentary loss of wireless coverage is to blame as the problem doesn't happen over our wired computers.

But...you are saying no one can get into AVImark locally? In that case the issue could have nothing to do with your three office arrangement. Start with a vanilla install of Windows XP, install AVImark plus your back-up software, then STOP.
