We've been having a mildly annoying problem when entering new patients via the schedule window., and I'm hoping we're just doing something wrong and this is an easy fix.
When booking an appointment for a new client we simply create an appointment, click new, and input what information Avimark allows us to (client name and number, animal name and species). Unfortunately, it seems that when we later check in the patient (and thus add it to the system) its weight almost always defaults to lbs. All of our animals are set to kg or g in the species tables, and when we add a new client/patient from the main window the weights default perfectly. The weights also properly default if we choose a different species after checking in a patient added through the schedule window.
Obviously this isn't a critical issue, but it would be nice to save the few seconds on every new patient.
Thanks in advance |

Is the New Patient information window displaying the weight measure incorrectly or are you entering the weight on the SOAP record and then it shows the incorrect weight measure in the patient area? Check all of the species in the Species System Table and make sure the measure for all patients is set to the proper measure. If the Advanced Option for Default Species is blank, it could be occurring because the species isn't listed on the new appointment. |

The new patient information window is displaying lbs instead of g or kg. All of our breed tables are set correctly, and none are in lbs.
Our default species field is blank because we're an exotics practice and we don't see any one species more often than any other. This issue happens with every new patient entered through the "New Appointment" window with "New Client" or "New Patient" selected, even if we set the "species" field to the proper species. So when they are checked in, the "New Patient" window comes up with the weight in lbs, even though the "species" field comes up properly filled out.
Example: We book an apt over the phone for a new client with a guinea pig. In the "New Appointment" window we put in the client's name and number, the animal's name, and select "Rodent" from the drop-down species menu. When the client arrives and is checked in, the Species field in the "New Patient" window comes up with "Guinea Pig", but the weight is still listed in lbs.
Again, this isn't a terribly important issue, but it tickles the back of my brain whenever I see it.
And thanks for the speedy reply! Sorry my own response took so long. |

Kenneth,
The measure being incorrect when checking in a new patient was an issue that has been corrected on the 2010.4 version. If you have time to update, it will correct the issue you are experiencing. Please review the hardware requirements at http://www.avimark.net/images/stories/documents/Recently%20updated/Hardware.pdf (will open a PDF file) and make sure you can have all users out of AVImark to do a backup and download the update before proceeding with the update. Also, if you need any assistance, please just give technical support a call; we are happy to walk you through the update process. |
