I am new to Avimark and am trying to figure out the easiest way to set up my reminder
system. I want reminders to go from the 7th of one month to the 7th of the next month.
So thats easy enough however I want on the 15th of the month to print for 3 weeks to
pick up any of the puppy /kitten vaccinations that would fall between those periods.
Is there any specific thing on that 15th I should do? I see obviously the date then
period of 21 days but what is the column on the right that says First, second, third,
consolidated-is that something I should check/uncheck? Our clinic is brand new and the
last place I worked for 10 yrs uses DVM so I have no one to ask.

Welcome to AVImark, I would be interested to hear how you like it compared with DVM. It took me a long time to realise that those second, third options are WAY too confusing. We never use them. Just check first reminders and select the date range. Also do an analysis first and compare that with the reminders once they are printed out, as AVImark often doesn't print certain reminders, no idea why!

Use consolidated if you want to print the reminders for multiple pets on the same reminder. We use this for labels (for mailing) but not for the reminders themselves (one reminder per pet).

Hope that helps!

Thank you. That does actually help explain it. I am not a fan so far. I was on DVM
for so long and Cornerstone before that but I am sure I will figure it out. Thanks
again for the info. I tried online chat and did not really get a clear answer b/c she did not understand why I wanted to print out that way and not just every 30 days. Would it be easier to to just shorten my time period to every 2 weeks and not worry with the in between? (in your opinion)

As you will learn, using AVImark means making a lot of compromises. However they are working on an SQL version of the software, so we will be able to write our own interface to things like reminders!!

If you want to print two times per month then every two weeks seems easier...?? I'd love to do reminders twice a month, but we don't have the volume for bulk mail. Every two weeks should even things out for us, plus you won't miss your puppy reminders (provided AVImark prints things out as in the analysis!).

It does get easier...we get our reminders done in a fraction of the time it used to take!

Also do persevere with tech support, super nice people who really want to help and have helped us a lot in the past, but clueless when confronted by AVImark's numerous glitches, and prodigiously expensive.

I hope you don't have too many reminders. Checking them individually can take a long time! :-(

Good luck!

It does sound like printing first reminders with 21 days is the best way to do the puppy and kitten reminders based on what you need.

There are a few Advanced Options (click on the wrench icon) that can cause a reminder to not print and were designed to assist in saving paper: Always Print First Reminders, Always Print Second Reminders, Always Print Third Reminders, and Restrict to Patients without Appointments. If the Always Print options are set to False, then clients with email addresses will not get a postcard. If the Restrict to Patients without Appointments option is set to True, then patients with an appointment during the reminder cycle will not have a postcard print. Additionally, you can set individual reminder templates to show on the record but only print a reminder if other reminders are due (common with fecals in a lot of reminder templates I have seen.)

Thanks, Jeremy - we had Restrict Patients to True. I just changed it.

FYI as a paper saver this 'feature' was a failure. We re-printed the missing reminders manually.
