We see a lot of exotic animals and often compound medications. Currently we have an item in Avimark called "Compounded Minimal Dispense" that we use for this. Then we just change the name so it prints the actual medication(s) on the label. The problem with this method is this does not affect the inventory count for the individual medications, and we can't do a Whogot to find those meds in there. This becomes especially problematic for tracking controlled substances. The only way I know of to address that is to put the individual medications in as separate charges that are discounted out. Is there any way to do this under one item? i.e. We could choose the compounded medication item and then have some kind of way to tell that item what individual meds are in there and then it could adjust inventory (and cost if the med takes it over that minimum) and then it would show up in a whogot of the individual meds. I'm assuming there probably isn't since I can't find anything in the manual, but was hoping maybe I was missing something. Thanks. |

Hi,
You can go to your treatment, do a right-click Change, add either a & or a + to the Action Codes, click on the Associated Entries tab, check the option Allow Override, and click OK. This will bring up an inventory choose window each time the treatment is dispensed.
The & Action Code will surcharge by the Item's Price, and the + Action Code will surcharge by the Item's Cost which will be added to the price of the treatment. |

I tried to do this, but it tells me both & and + are invalid Action Codes. Also there is no "Associated Entries" tab that I see. We are running AviMark version 2010.5.0.14298. Not sure if that's the issue. |

Hi,
On 2010.5, make sure to go to Work With, Treatments, and either create a new treatment or do a right-click Change on an existing treatment. |

Awesome! We had it in as Inventory rather than Treatments. So that was my problem. One more question for tweaking it. Is there a way to have the items that are being compounded together automatically show up on the drug label? As of now it keeps the treatment name unless we change it. Thanks |

Unfortunately, the text would need to be added to the drug label with the ingredients or continued to be modified as the description. |
