I have a client that is in need of a new server and am exploring all the options for her..

Will AVImark run on either Windows Home Server 2011 (Vail, based on 2008rc2) or the new Small Business Essentials 2011 server?

I am going to be setting up a vpn for her new clinic in the near future so was thinking to set it up as client/server. Will I have any issues migrating her existing install over to that?

Hi,

We do not currently recommend the Home Server 2011 or Small Business Essentials 2011 server. Our hardware recommendations can be found at http://www.avimark.net/gtka/hardware-requirements , and we have a document titled Instructions for Moving AVImark to a New Server available in our downloadable documents section http://www.avimark.net/support/downloadable-documents .

Okay, with that being said, I presume support is coming in the future?

Also, is there a way to setup the new server side-by-side with the old server to see how well SBS 2011 Essentials will perform for her? She got a really good deal on the server with the software and cant really go over her budget right now for full 2008 R2.

Hi,

I checked with our IT department, and we do not generally recommend the Small Business Essentials Server editions and never the Home Server editions. I am very sorry for the inconvenience.
