We recently installed Avimark on 5 Win7-64 bit Pro PCs.
The PC running as the "Server" is Win7-64 bit Pro with 4GB ram and is otherwise very fast. The other workstations are identical but with 2GB of RAM.

The LAN is 1Gbit through a single 1GB switch, with a small router also connected to the switch to provide internet access and DHCP service on the LAN.

We are currently NOT running AviMark's client/server mode.

Antivirus is installed (Trend Micro Platinum 2011).
Of note: Enabling / Disabling Antivirus has no effect on Avimark's performance at workations.

Problems / Questions:
=======================
1. Launching Avimark.exe at a workstation takes an inordinate time before AviMark executes, typically about 30 seconds. Certain functions once logged in seem to take longer than one would expect. EG: Opening the inventory list takes about 5-10 seconds before the form loads and populates. At times, toggling various flags in the client record to change views has a very noticeable lag before the screen updates.

2. When launching \\Server\Avimark\Avimark.exe Windows always prompts with a security warning regarding running executables from an internet location. I'm sure there is a method to avoid the warning prompt - Maybe someone here has a simple solution before I dig deeper.

3. I'd appreciate any tips / feedback on performance differences using Client/Server mode.

4. Can you indicate the typical time expected for AviMark to launch at workstation.

The workstations perform very well with other applications as one would expect for new Win7-64 PCs.

I'd appreciate any insight AviMark and other users can provide that may be helpful.

Problem resolved. I didn't hear anything from Avimark and we resolved this ourselves.

For others that may have similar issues, you can try:
===============================================================
Internet options / Security tab / Local intranet / Sites button.
Disable "Automatically detect intranet network" and enable the other three checkboxes.

Time,

I apologize for not getting to the post in a timely manner. I'm glad you were able to get the issue resolved.

1. In addition to the settings you made, I would review the options on http://www.avimark.net/images/stories/documents/Recently%20updated/AVImark%20Settings%20for%20Windows.pdf (will open a PDF file with our recommended Windows' settings.) They could further improve your performance.

2. This is covered in our document above, but I think you also fixed it with what you did in the Intranet/Sites area.

3. We use client/server in the office for over 70 computers, and it dramatically improved speed in many areas. I have been to a handful of clinics experiencing issues with slowness, turned it on, and had people extremely happy with the speed increase. I recommend it to anyone that has the slightest bit of issues with speed, and the client/server technology is continually allowing some nice enhancements to be added: for example, a smart auto-refresh that refreshes areas more quickly if more than one person has the area open, especially useful for Whiteboard.

4. For a set up as like yours, I would expect from double-click to login screen to be less than 6 seconds and login to loaded CID to vary a little bit by the client, but overall be another 6-8 seconds. I know I can get into our system with a large client up on the screen from double-click to logged in (including typing my 5 digit password) in about 10-12 seconds, but we are running client/server, so it may add a few seconds not using client/server.

**Anti-virus and firewalls could also play a part in increasing the login time, but it sounds like you have already tested to make sure the anti-virus was not interfering.

Any chance that the pdf could get reposted?

I get a 404 error when I hit the link.

Hi,

The new url is http://www.avimark.net/images/stories/documents/Recently%20updated%20A-L/AVImark%20Settings%20for%20Windows.pdf .

In case it changes again, you can navigate to the document by going to Support, Downloadable Documents, and opening AVImark Settings for Windows.
