Hi;

A clinic I do some work for is running AVImark in client/server mode. However, startup can be slow, particularly when the workstations start up in the morning. Currently all the workstations use a shortcut to AVImark.exe on the server machine for their setup, and I am wondering if the slowness may be due to all the AVImark files being downloaded from the server to each workstation. To test this out, would it be possible to install the AVImark executable files on each workstation, then change the shortcut to point to the local machine, while still running in client/server mode?

It is best to use the regular UNC shortcut to the server. What kind of network does the clinic currently have: cat 5/cat 5e/cat 6; gigabit or 100 mbit; and hard-wired or wireless?

The clinic uses a 100Mb/s network over CAT5 cable.

Thanks; once they get started up, do they run ok or is it still slow? We have been recommending gigabit for a while, and it generally does improve start up and general speed compared to a 100 megabit network.
