Client info missing are garbled
Hello,
I have a customer in the Jefferson City, MO area. I take care of their server and workstations. They have been Avimark customers for many years.
Problems:
1. The server is running Win 2000 Server. Avimark version 184.0.0.4863. Database version 1009.3, hardware below "your" specs.
2. Workstations are Win XP PRO, hardware below "your" specs.
3. All are older generation machines.
4. Support sales told them they will no longer supply support even if they pay, because of the old equipment and software version. (payment stopped)
Bigger problems:
1. Friday my customer found several client files in which the client info. is missing or garbled, any attempt to correct causes an endless loop of errors, and basically locks up the program.
2. We are in the process of getting an upgrade plan/action together, new server, probably Win 2008 R2 server, which seems to be the latest supported.
3. New workstations Win XP PRO/WIN 7.
4. This is going to be a big chunk of change, so I want to get it right the first time.
5. It is absolutely necessary for Avimark to be working 100% before moving forward.
6. My customer has spent many THOUSANDS of dollars for support over the years to Avimark.
Solutions:
1. Will Avimark step up to rectify the problem, and keep a customer.
2. Will you loose a customer of many years to another software vendor.
3. Do I need to pay Avimark a visit, I am less then 200 miles away.
PLEASE ADVISE, also e-mailed to sales support........

Bob,
I see where you said you had emailed sales support. Has anyone been in contact with you? If not, reply to this or email support@avimark.net. As long as the clinic is on support we will help in any way we can. We support all versions of our software old and new. You can always call us at 1-877-838-9273.
Regards,
Chris

Sorry been very busy today..........
Thank you,
Wheels are in motion, don't think index rebuild/repair will fix, as I already tried on a spare drive.
Thank you for responding, I need to get this problem under control before the next step.

Sorry, I hope I don't get in trouble with double posting. Can you tell me if Windows Small Business Server 2011 is supported.
I contacted support@avimark.net they sent me the Hardware2011.pdf which I already had.
Thank you

Bob,
We currently do not recommend Small Business server, due to its limitations. You already have the hardware recommendations, but here is the link in case anyone else needs to review them: http://www.avimark.net/images/stories/documents/Recently%20updated%20A-L/Hardware.pdf .
Chris fielded this question the other day, and he spoke with our internal IT department who make the recommendations for our hardware, and this is what they had to say to why we do not support the SBS version(s).
Because you cannot use SBS as a Terminal Server, we do not support the Operating System. The only Special Purpose Edition of Windows Server we support is Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation. Otherwise, Windows Server Editions we do support include; Enterprise, Datacenter and Standard 2008 R2.
You should find Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation is a better buy with a much more solid platform than the SBS Server. |
