AVImark has three different cost types. Each field begins with an initial amount during inventory setup, but it reflects different perspectives as the inventory item is dispensed and re-ordered. Each of the cost types are represented by both a "package cost" field and a "unit cost" field. Package cost is the cost of the order pack of the item, and unit cost is the cost of the individual unit. These fields are dependent on each other and automatically update once one has been altered.

Average Unit Cost/Average Package Cost. This cost type reflects the average amount spent for this item from inception to date. AVImark maintains the item cost as the average price paid from any vendor and will include shipping, taxes, and any other costs incurred when the item was ordered. AVImark uses this cost to calculate stock levels on the Inventory Report.

Markup Unit Cost/Markup Package Cost. This cost type will reflect the highest amount spent for this item from inception to date. If the vendor's prices recede, the markup cost will always reflect the highest price that you have paid. This field will also represent the cost that you want future mark ups to apply to. Furthermore, it is used as the basis for inventory surcharges added to treatments, and all discounts will be based on this cost.

Cost/Package Cost. This cost type will reflect the current cost for this item. This cost field will change when you receive a purchase order with a different cost compared with the last time you ordered this item.
