The History of AVImark in Africa
AVImark first arrived in South Africa due to the pioneering attitude of Dr. Derrick Lilienfeld, who realised a need for progressive veterinary management software in the country. Dr. Lilienfeld’s professional & management needs were not adequately satisfied with the local software options. Whilst in the USA, Dr. Lilienfeld was introduced to AVImark and recognised this as the solution.

A little History about AVImark
In 1988, through the encouragement of a few veterinarians, the development and documentation staff of McAllister Software Systems, Inc., namely, Richard and Roger McAllister, spent the next two years developing a veterinary software system that is now known as AVImark. After two years of development, the software system known then as Veterinary Management System (VMS), was sold by McAllister Software Systems, Inc. with encouraging success. After one year of selling VMS to the veterinary industry, McAllister Software Systems, Inc. teamed up with Henry Schein, Inc.
Henry Schein, Inc. became the exclusive distributor and sales agent for the VMS product. It was also at this time that the program assumed the registered name of AVImark.

McAllister Software Systems^® renames GlobalVet^® software, extending AVImark^® brand to South Africa
Piedmont, MO and Durban, S. Africa – In 2002, AVImark veterinary software was introduced to the South African market under the name GlobalVet. Today, McAllister Software Systems, Inc. announced that GlobalVet will be renamed AVImark. This will enable veterinary customers in South Africa to take advantage of a wider range of technical support options and to receive faster, more frequent software updates from AVImark.
