We are slowly going paperless. How are clinics adding past history
from their handwritten charts into the computer's patient charts?

When we went paperless we simply stopped writing anything in our paper charts. We kept thim in the clinic and probably pulled them for the first few months of "going paperless" but found that the information gained from them was pretty minimal on most patients. After our first year of being paperless we found we rarely pulled an old paper chart anymore. Keep in mind we were doing all ou charging thru AviMark before that tho so it made it a little easier to at least look back and see what we did. Feel free to shoot me any specific questions. We found it to be rather ease when all said and done...its just making that initial leap!

What I did was enter most recent vaccines, and all major problems/ diagnoses/ surgeries using the History Mode (Shift + F8).
I then made a code in the treatment list, called "Hard Copy Attached".
I scan the records and attach them to that particular code.
Hope this helps.
