First integration between veterinary software and telemedicine provider helps veterinarians save time, minimize errors, and store cases in the electronic medical record.
![]() News Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 5, 2009 McAllister Software Systems® and VDIC integrate telemedicine services with AVImark® Piedmont, MO and Portland, OR - McAllister Software Systems, Inc. and VDIC, Inc. have integrated VDIC's VetMedStat telemedicine services with version 2009.0 of AVImark veterinary software. Veterinarians can submit radiographs and case requests to VDIC's network of specialists directly from AVImark, and they can easily store and retrieve current and past cases in their patients' electronic medical records. "This is the first time that a veterinary software provider and a telemedicine service have teamed up to give veterinarians access to medical specialists and evaluations through their practice management software," said Stephen McAllister, president of McAllister Software Systems. "We're committed to the success of each AVImark practice, and that means staying ahead of the integration trend. We're continuing to enable our customers to take advantage of the added speed, efficiency, and accuracy that comes from novel integrations like this." With the latest version of AVImark, veterinarians can submit their VDIC VetMedStat telemedicine cases directly from the Client Information Display without retyping patient data, which saves time and minimizes data entry errors. Order requests are automatically populated with patient information, and results are stored in the patient's medical history. Case status and past reports can also be recorded in the Client Information Display and medical history. To take advantage of this integration, users will need a downloadable update to version 2009.0. No additional modules are required. "Veterinarians want all of a patient's medical information stored in one place for fast, easy access and retrieval. That's what we're making possible with this AVImark/VDIC integration," said Don Schofield, president and chief operating officer of VDIC. "We began our telemedicine consulting services in radiology, ultrasound, cytology, cardiology, and internal medicine with the goal of making specialized medicine more readily available to veterinarians across the country. By integrating with AVImark software, we're making it even easier for veterinarians to access our services, enabling better medicine and improved client service." Veterinarians who already have an account with VDIC can access their existing information through AVImark by simply setting up their VetMedStat user I.D. and password in the software. Those who do not have a VetMedStat account can take advantage of a 30-day free trial from VDIC. About McAllister Software Systems, Inc.
